Happy New Year everyone! I hope that your 2011 is off to a great start. It sure is here at Simply Solo!

Yesterday, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the largest daily newspaper in the Richmond area, included my blog in a story about ways to use social networking to reach your goals. Check it out here. Welcome to any new readers that have found the blog as a result of this article! I hope you’ll stay awhile. Check out my last post about all the things I learned in 2010, which includes lots of links to my favorite blog posts from the last year. On the right of the site, you can subscribe to the blog, which means you’ll get every new post sent to you directly via e-mail. There are usually two to three blog posts a week. Tuesdays are guest posts, called Simply Solo Spotlights, which are posts written by a different person each week about a variety of topics regarding love, life, dating and relationships. I usually post a bit later in the week, chronicling my journey as a newly single girl. [Want to write a guest post? I’d love to have you! E-mail me at simplysoloblog@gmail.com.]

I also did a radio interview late last year, and I totally forgot to post it! Here you can witness me in my fast-talking glory. I am generally a fast talker, but I was nervous during this interview so the talking is at warp speed. I also find it slightly humorous that they have listed me as a dating coach. I need a dating coach. But, I digress.

In other news … tonight is the Bachelor season premiere on ABC! Oh yeah, guys, I still love me some Bachelor. And my second favorite part of watching the train wreck that is the Bachelor is reading Lincee’s recaps here.

Happy New Year! Make it a great one!

So now does this mean you are a star?

    • January 3, 2011 10:08 pm

Duke, haha, hardly. But it’s a nice thought 🙂 Thanks for reading and commenting!

On the radio, in the papers, hey you are in a different league to me.

    Well done

    • January 3, 2011 10:09 pm

Lost in France, Aww thanks. Not a different league. Just different profession. I work with the media for a living, so it’s a little easier for me sometimes because I see opportunities for my blog when I’m monitoring for clients. Thanks so much for reading and commenting!

Look at you, all famous and in print now! What a great way to promote your blog – makes me want to call the local paper and beg, I mean, suggest they include me in a similar story!

    • January 3, 2011 10:11 pm

Haha, Mark, I wouldn’t call it famous (at all!). But it is definitely fun and a good way to introduce the blog to new readers, so I was pretty excited about it. You definitely should call your local paper – I would suggest the features or life department. They are often working on social media wrap up stories, and your blog might be a good fit!

I mean, wow, I had no idea you were SUCH a celebrity!

    Congrats~

LOL, Lucky! Not at all. A celebrity is like Oprah or those fine ladies from The Real Housewives. LOL. 🙂 Thanks for reading and commenting.

    Congrats Catherine!! You’re famous!!!

Thanks Gizzy!! I’m heading over to ya’ll’s blog this week – I’ve been missing it, but I’ve got all the posts saved in the good old Google Reader. Can’t wait! 🙂 Thanks for reading and commenting.

You might get more readers than a newspaper these days. Congratulations!!!!

    • January 4, 2011 4:26 pm

Haha, not quite, but that’s pretty funny. Papers have been struggling! Thanks for your congrats – I was very happy for the opportunity!

How did the newspaper hook up with you? I work at my local newspaper so I can’t get myself into a story (plus, I sort of try to keep my blog away from my boss).

      Hey Crystal,
I follow the newspaper on Facebook, and I saw them post and ask people for stories on how social media has helped them reach their goals. They gave the reporter’s email address, so I just sent her a quick email about the blog. Then, she was interested, so she interviewed me. I have to monitor these kinds of opportunities anyway for my clients, so it just sort of happened!

I can’t believe you auditioned for Rent (and got a callback)! That’s so exciting… I have my fingers crossed for you. And yes, apparantly I am Facebook stalking you. haha 🙂

      • January 6, 2011 1:35 pm

Please, Facebook stalk me! I thought I did great at callbacks last night but either I’m not the right look for the part or I didn’t do very well after all because I didn’t even get a supporting role. I do get to be in the chorus though. And I’m trying to think of some positive reasons why the Universe spun it that way. However, I’m still a little too hurt to hear it.

        LOVIES!

I’m sure you did great. I think it’s awesome you even got called back! I don’t have an ounce of talent in me. I’d be like one of those bad auditions on American Idol…the ones that everyone watches only to make fun of them :). I think the chorus is awesome – that sounds like such a fun experience. And a good way to make friends! I personally think it sounds very very exciting!

      • January 6, 2011 1:36 pm

P.S. I totally forwarded that article on to our features department. I think they should write a story like it!

        • January 7, 2011 10:09 am

Oh, cool! I think it’s a great idea for a story. Let me know if they do anything with it!

  12. January 4, 2011 1:58 pm
